A better foundation for espresso.

Designed by former World Barista Champion Saša Šestić, the NUCLEUS NCD (Nucleus Coffee Distributor) is a precision espresso preparation tool created to evenly distribute ground coffee in the portafilter before tamping.

Its patented four-blade design sweeps coffee across the basket to create a more level, consistently distributed bed — helping reduce one of the variables that can contribute to uneven extraction from shot to shot. Nucleus states that the NCD's patented design has also been scientifically tested at the Switzerland University of Applied Technologies.

Built entirely from metal with a substantial 386 g weighted feel, adjustable distribution depth and an anti-static coating, the NCD is designed to bring consistency and repeatability to both professional café and home espresso workflows.

WHY NCD?

- Four-Blade Distribution System
The NCD features four uniquely shaped distribution blades designed to sweep coffee grounds across the filter basket, filling lower areas and reducing high points to create a flatter, more consistently prepared coffee bed before tamping.

- Designed to Reduce Barista Inconsistency
Espresso preparation can vary significantly between users. By introducing a repeatable distribution step before tamping, the NCD is designed to reduce variation in puck preparation and provide a more consistent starting point for extraction.

- Anti-Static Coating
An advanced anti-static coating helps prevent persistent coffee grounds from sticking to the distributor, supporting a cleaner and more efficient workflow between doses.

- Adjustable Distribution Depth
Different doses and coffee densities require different distribution depths. Numbered adjustment markers around the NCD allow you to fine-tune the height of the distributor for precise, repeatable setup.

- Weighted, All-Metal Construction
At approximately 386 g, the NCD has a reassuringly substantial feel in the hand. Its stainless-steel centre and anodised aluminium components provide a durable, professional construction designed for repeated everyday use.

- Textured Non-Slip Grip
Grooved, textured sides provide additional grip while rotating the distributor, making the NCD comfortable to handle even in fast-paced café environments.

- 58.5 mm Espresso Basket Compatibility
The NCD has a 58.5 mm diameter and is designed to fit IMS and VST baskets, making it suitable for many professional 58 mm espresso setups.

BEST FOR:
The NUCLEUS NCD is designed for espresso brewers seeking a simple, repeatable pre-tamping distribution step.

Ideal for specialty cafés • professional baristas • home espresso enthusiasts • high-volume espresso workflows • competition preparation • multi-barista environments

SPECIFICATIONS:
Diameter: 58.5 mm
Weight: Approx. 386 g
Patent: M550602

MATERIALS:
Stainless steel + anodised aluminium

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0671/6899/3433/files/33_d712a6a1-1a58-4d2a-b577-34f9bd4f3b7b.png?v=1791221587
