NUCLEUS NCD PULSE
Pulse Vibration Espresso Distribution Tool
More even distribution. More consistent espresso.
The NUCLEUS NCD PULSE is a new generation of espresso distribution technology, combining traditional top-layer distribution with Nucleus' Pulse Vibration technology to improve the density and distribution of coffee throughout the puck before tamping.
As its four distribution blades sweep across the surface of the coffee, subtle vibration travels through the dose to help redistribute grounds vertically, reduce hidden air pockets and create a more even foundation for extraction. The result is a flatter, more consistently prepared coffee bed designed to reduce variation from shot to shot.
Unlike an automated distributor, the NCD PULSE is designed to integrate naturally into a barista's existing workflow: simply set your preferred vibration level, place it on the portafilter and spin as you would a conventional coffee distributor.
WHY NCD PULSE?
- Pulse Vibration Technology
At the heart of NCD PULSE is Nucleus' vibration distribution technology. While the blades distribute the upper layers of the coffee horizontally, subtle Pulse Vibration helps improve distribution deeper within the puck — creating more even density before tamping.
- Top-to-Bottom Puck Distribution
Distribution isn't only about creating a level-looking surface. NCD PULSE is designed to address density throughout the coffee puck: the four blades level the top layer while vibration helps redistribute grounds beneath the surface and release hidden air pockets without intentionally compressing the dose.
- Low + High Vibration Modes
Different coffees behave differently. Select between Low and High Pulse Vibration to experiment with different roast profiles, doses, coffee densities and processing methods. Nucleus notes that there is no single vibration setting suited to every coffee, giving baristas room to dial in according to taste and workflow.
- Adjustable Distribution Height
Fine-tune the blade height according to your coffee dose and puck depth using the numbered adjustment markers. Correct adjustment helps the blades level the surface without sitting too deeply and compressing the coffee, or too high and leaving gaps behind.
- DLC-Coated Anti-Static Blades
Four aluminium distribution blades are finished with a Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating, designed to reduce coffee-ground retention while adding durability to the working surface of the tool.
- Designed for Fast Barista Workflow
Pulse Vibration operates while you spin the distributor, allowing surface distribution and vibration to happen simultaneously. Nucleus recommends approximately three clockwise spins with 1–2 seconds of contact time, making the preparation step intentionally quick.
- Activation Dock with Auto Start / Stop
Keep the NCD PULSE on its Activation Dock with your preferred vibration mode selected. When you pick the distributor up, vibration automatically activates; return it to the dock and vibration stops. This reduces additional button presses during repetitive café workflow.
- Wireless Use + Long Battery Life
Once charged, the NCD PULSE can be used wirelessly and independently from the dock. Nucleus states that a full charge provides at least 1,000 cycles on the High setting, while USB-C charging keeps the system straightforward to maintain.
